Authorities are searching for the suspect connected to a deadly stabbing at a Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant in Long Beach early Sunday morning. 

Preliminary information indicates that an altercation broke out at the restaurant, located on the corner of 2nd Street and Covina Avenue, around 12:45 a.m. 

According to eyewitnesses in the packed restaurant, the fight started as a verbal confrontation and quickly escalated into a physical dispute.

Video taken moments after the stabbing shows the victim lying on the floor while paramedics attempted to treat his severe wounds. 

One witness reported that the victim was possibly stabbed in the neck, but that information could not be confirmed by law enforcement. 

A spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department did confirm with KTLA that a homicide occurred at the restaurant and that the suspect remained at large as of 6:30 a.m. Sunday. 

“Officers located a male adult victim suffering a stab wound to his upper body and immediately rendered aid,” the Long Beach Police Department said. “The preliminary investigation indicates that there was a physical altercation involving the victim and suspect…during the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim before [fleeing] the scene.”

No suspect description was immediately released.
