A murder and armed robbery suspect on the run for two years was apprehended by a veteran California Highway Patrol officer in Ventura County.

According to a media release from CHP, K9 Officer Rolando Tejeda was on patrol in Oxnard when he conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a “registration violation” on Oxnard Boulevard around 9:50 a.m. Monday.

“During the traffic stop, the male suspect initially provided false identifying information to Officer Tejeda,” the CHP release stated. “Officer Tejeda realized the suspect was being untruthful and called for additional CHP units to respond to his location.”
