A second so-called "doomsday" fish, the rare deep-sea oarfish, has been discovered on the beaches of San Diego. For the second time this year, an oarfish cadaver has hit Southern California, this time washing ashore in Encinitas. Samuel Woodward, the man responsible for killing his former classmate Blaze Bernstein in an anti-LGBTQ and anti-Jewish hate crime, will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Woodward was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Friday, Nov. 15, 2024.

Following the sentencing, Bernstein's family addressed the media, saying "Hate is not the answer."
