American Legion Post 291 Newport Harbor is celebrating 100 years of veteran support and community service in style! Commander Brian Fleming and Junior Past Commander Evin Planto joined us to talk about the holiday extravaganza they are having this weekend in honor of their centennial celebration. On July 6, this celebration is free to the public and is running until 8 p.m. at 215 15th Street on the peninsula in Newport Beach. There will be great food, family-friendly fun, and live music! Vice President Kamala Harris visited the union stronghold of Flint, Michigan, on Friday as she battles with Donald Trump for working-class voters who could tip the scales in this year’s election.

Her appearance in the battleground state comes the day after U.S. dockworkers suspended their strike in hopes of reaching a new contract, sparing the country a damaging episode of labor unrest that could have rattled the economy.

Meanwhile, Trump is heading to Georgia to appear with Gov. Brian Kemp, the latest sign that he’s patched up his rocky relationship with the top Republican in a key battleground state.

Suspected serial arsonist arrested for several downtown …

A serial arsonist accused of setting a string of destructive fires around downtown Los Angeles was arrested.

The suspect, Victor Marias, 31, was arrested Thursday after police reportedly spotted him setting a pile of trash on fire. Marias is believed to be responsible for at least four blazes in the downtown L.A. area dating back to July.

Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that the state will grant 18 cities $131 million to clear homeless encampments and provide shelter, care and support. The grants are a part of the state’s $1 billion Encampment Resolution Funds. The city of Los Angeles is slated to receive $11.3 million in funding.
