The PGA Tour had a striking new venue for its third Fall event: Black Desert Resort. It's event, the Black Desert Championship, offered a $7.5 million purse, with $1.35 million to the winner.
Matt McCarty is taking home the big check, continuing a torrid run of golf that began in late July. The 26-year-old won three times on the Korn Ferry Tour in a little more than a month's time, earning the “battlefield promotion” to the big Tour.
It only took the Arizona native three starts to win, and he did so with authority Sunday after a closing-round 67 that gave him the win by three shots.
