An actress, who appeared on TV shows including “The Walking Dead” and “The Vampire Diaries,” pleaded guilty Tuesday to sending ricin-tainted letters to President Barack Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Shannon Richardson, 35, also known as Shannon Rogers and Shannon Guess, was charged in June with three counts including making “threats against the President of the United States.”
On Tuesday Richardson pleaded guilty to possession of a toxin for use as a weapon, prosecutors said in a statement.
The mother of three was also accused of mailing a third toxic letter to Mark Glaze, director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which was founded and co-chaired by Bloomberg.
Richardson initially told authorities that her husband, Army veteran Nathan Richardson, was behind the letters, according to an FBI arrest affidavit.
But court documents allege Richardson sent the letters herself to get back at her husband.
She could be sentenced to up to life in prison. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
