Experiencing the thrills of Universal Studios Hollywood and its sister parks worldwide may no longer require a trip to the amusement parks, thanks to a partnership between Universal and Minecraft.
A new Universal Studios Experience DLC, commonly known as downloadable content, made its debut on Minecraft Tuesday.
The new map brings popular Universal Studios attractions from around the world — past and present — to live in the online world.
Players can go on adventures inspired by Universal Studios Hollywood’s Jurassic World – The Ride, Universal Studios Florida’s Revenge of the Mummy, Islands of Adventure’s Skull Island: Reign of Kong, Universal Beijing’s Jurassic World Innovation Center, Universal Studios Japan’s Jaws ride and others.
Past attractions, like Back to the Future – The Ride, once located at Universal Studios Hollywood and its sister park in Florida, will also be resurrected in the game.
Players can also go on quests to collect missing letters from the Universal Studios globe with the help of classic Universal characters, like Frankenstein’s Monster, Puss In Boots, or Shrek, who can help players with their mission. Other characters, however, will stand in the way.
Users can download the Universal Studios Experience DLC on the Minecraft Marketplace.
The news of Universal’s new endeavor with Minecraft comes a few days after Walt Disney Co. announced its new partnership with Epic Games, the creator of Fortnite.
