“Here we go!” Universal Orlando Resort is sharing more details about Super Nintendo World, one of the five new “worlds” at its new Epic Universe theme park.
Universal unveiled renderings of some of Super Nintendo World’s attractions Thursday.
As seen in one of the images, guests enter Super Nintendo World through a green pipe, transporting them to a colorful landscape with classic Nintendo characters. Landmarks from the Super Mario video games, like Bowser and Peach’s castles, appear next to Mount Beanpole, which features cartoon-like trees, gold coins and a flagpole at the top in an homage to the iconic video games.
Donkey Kong’s Mine-Cart Madness promises “a wild ride through Donkey Kong country” as visitors help him protect the golden banana.
“Enter the majestic Golden Temple, board your mine cart and take off in this thrilling family coaster,” the ride’s description reads. “Speeding through the mine, you’ll appear to jump across gaps in the track and perform other eye-popping feats from the Donkey Kong Country video games.”
Little ones can hop on a Yoshi-themed ride that takes them through the Mushroom Kingdom. They’ll help him search for colorful eggs that are hidden throughout the journey.
And, of course, no Super Mario park would be complete without an attraction themed after “Mario Kart,” one of the franchise’s most popular series. The ride — called Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge — will have guests working together with Mario, Luigi and Peach to defeat Team Bowser in a race.
The race has multiple outcomes, according to the ride’s description, so park guests can have a different experience every time they ride.
Guests can also complete “Power-up” challenges placed throughout Super Nintendo World, allowing them to collect digital coins and stamps, and, in some cases, to “unlock an exclusive showdown” with Bowser Jr.
Toadstool Cafe, a restaurant at Super Mario World, will also offer guests food inspired by the game series.
Super Nintendo World is slated to open at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025; Universal Studios Hollywood opened their own Super Nintendo World in 2023.
Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe has already revealed plans for four other lands, including parks inspired by the Harry Potter franchise, the How to Train Your Dragon series, and Universal’s Classic Monsters (e.g., Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, etc.).
