Another Downtown Disney store has closed as the revamp of the outdoor shopping district continues.
California Sole, a shoe and sandal store, closed in early May. The owners, Wayne & Cate Heck, announced the store’s closure on Instagram in late April.
“It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to California Sole Anaheim at the Downtown Disney District. While we’ve had a great ride and will never forget our loyal customers, it’s time for us to pursue some of our lifelong passions and interests,” the Instagram post said.
“We will certainly miss the fun and energy of the Downtown Disney District and want to express what a true pleasure it has been to serve you.”
Disneyland hasn’t announced what would replace California Sole, but it could be the home to a future Nectar Bath Treats location, according to Mice Chat.
“Loungefly has apparently inked a deal for a Downtown Disney location, and so has Nectar Bath Treats (which also has a location at Universal CityWalk). Neither has been officially announced yet, so we still need to list this as a rumor,” the blog reported.
The chain, known for selling bath soap “treats” in the shape of donuts, milkshakes and cupcakes, also has locations in Costa Mesa, Las Vegas, Hawaii, New Jersey and Dubai.
Loungefly is a popular retailer known for selling mini backpacks, purses and wallets themed to characters from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars and more.
Last year, resort Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said the Downtown Disney transformation would take 18 months to complete. The 18-month timeline means officials hope to complete construction shortly before Thanksgiving.
