If you can, get your laptop at the Microsoft Store – that way it comes with no extra bloatware. I like the Surface for a combo laptop/tablet, HP Spectre x360 or the Dell XPS 13. If all you need is basic word processing for writing papers and web surfing, then go with a Chromebook – they are easy on the budget.
Software for computer (39 percent)
This all depends on what you need for class.
External hard drive (23 percent)
I’m a big fan of drives from Western Digital.
Tablet (22 percent)
The iPad is still king – it’s expensive but it has the best combination of function, apps and accessories.
Product subscription service (22 percent)
Netflix, Google Drive, Evernote and Spotify are some of my favorites.
