TOMS is using virtual reality technology for good.

TOMS has been giving away one pair of shoes for every pair purchased since they started about 10 years ago. But the number 1 question the company gets is “Where does the second pair go?” Now, thanks to technology anyone can experience the answer.

Recently I stopped by the TOMS flagship store in Venice to experience a Virtual Reality Giving Trip.  You put on a Samsung VR headset and suddenly you are taken to Peru to see what it’s like to gift shoes to children in need. The giving trips have long been featured on YouTube but this is a much more immersive way of seeing the good in action. The 360 degree video allows you to look all around you to see children playing, dancing, singing and more.

It’s TOMS using Tech for Good, and you can experience it too just by visiting the Venice location or one of 100 TOMS retailers worldwide.

On a sidenote, I was surprised how many products TOMS has branched out into – various shoe styles, sunglasses, bags and coffee. And yes, every purchase still helps someone in need. Here are some photos I took at their flagship Venice location.
