An app called Squeegy is making it easier to keep your car shiny and clean.

Keeping your car clean is easier than ever thanks to the on-demand economy. An app called Squeegy delivers a mobile car wash to your door in about an hour. Plus, it uses nearly no water and is more eco-friendly than your typical wash.

Here’s how it works. Just download the app, sign up and tell Squeegy where your car is located. They will dispatch a mobile car washer to your ride and get to work. If you only want the exterior cleaned, you don’t even need to be there. If you want the inside cleaned as well, you can either meet the washer at your car or leave it unlocked.

The best part about Squeegy is how eco-friendly it is. The service uses a combination of spray on wash and wax in one – so it uses nearly no water to get your car to a showroom shine. In fact, there is no hose or water supply necessary. Squeegy founder Andrew Davis says the solution they use to clean uses up to 100 gallons less water than a driveway wash or a traditional car wash.

I had Squeegy come to my house (unbeknownst to them) to try out the service. Although the car washer took a bit longer than expected to arrive (it was rush hour traffic), the app kept me up to date on his estimated arrival time. When he did arrive he immediately went to work and spent at least an hour washing my wife’s car. The results were stunning. We couldn’t believe a car could get so clean and shiny without water! The shine also lasted longer than my wife’s typical “tunnel” wash, since they don’t normally apply any wax.

A standard wash is $25 and includes the exterior and tires. A wash including vacuuming the inside costs $35. As for tip, you aren’t obligated to give one but the app does allow it and the washer I interviewed said most people do tip an average of $5-$10.

Squeegy recently celebrated one year of service in Los Angeles. Right now the service area is limited to certain areas including West Los Angeles but the company says it will expand as it learns how to handle the demand.
