A man proposed to his girlfriend on live television as the Yankees played the rival Red Sox Tuesday – only to drop the ring.
“Stress city,” said one ESPN announcer as cameras focused on the crestfallen Yankees fan, who put a hand on his head in disbelief.
Fans in his section pitched in to help look for the missing engagement ring, and soon people were combing through popcorn tubs and peering under seats as the game suddenly became less important than the unfolding heartbreak. The proposal was also being shown on the massive Yankee stadium screen in center field.
Just when it seemed like the ring might be lost forever – success.
“Wait a second, woohoo!” one of the broadcaster’s exclaimed as the stadium erupted in cheers. “It was in the jacket!”
“Say yes, please say yes!” the other announcer quipped.
Judging from the smile and the kiss that followed, it appeared that she did.
“It’s been in Ohio as early as the mid-1850s at least, brought in as an ornamental plant because of its unique foliage and white flowers,” Gardner said. “It was actually planted in people’s landscaping, and it has been spreading.”
Don't worry, it has a happy ending: https://t.co/ycaaNB7fO2
