A new nail polish that changes color when it comes in contact with liquid laced with date-rape drugs may be available soon.
Undercover Colors nail polish is designed to detect drugs such as Rohypnol, Xanax and GHB by simply stirring your drink with your finger. “If the nail polish changes color, she’ll know that something is wrong,” according to the Undercover Colors Facebook page.
The creators hope to shift the fear from victims to the perpetrators, according to the page.
“Through this nail polish and similar technologies, we hope to make potential perpetrators afraid to spike a woman’s drink because there’s now a risk that they can get caught,” the page stated.
The four male undergraduates at North Carolina State University who created Undercover Colors are currently raising money to develop the product, according to an article in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
