A 3-year-old from Rocklin, California, has become a viral sensation after she decided to wear a Superman costume for her school picture instead of an outfit her dad picked for her.

“Pooterman,” as Kaylieann calls him, better know as Superman, is her sidekick. He’s also her wardrobe inspiration for school picture day.

“I’ve always wanted her to be as independent as possible,” Kaylieann’s dad, Austin Steinbach told KTLA’s sister station KTXL.

That’s why Austin wasn’t offended when she chose the costume over the three outfits he picked for her. He’s also not surprised. He said she dresses up in costume for school all the time.

“I love her wearing these,” he said.

The 3-year-old’s fashion choice went viral. Kaylieann’s picture was shared all over the country.

“I’m still astonished by it. I still can’t believe what’s happening,” said mom Jami.

But there’s more to the story of this toddler – she’s 75 percent deaf in both of her ears.

This picture isn’t just getting laughs and smiles across the Internet. Supergirl’s parents said they’re overwhelmed with support from the deaf community. They said she’s an inspiration.

“Being deaf isn’t necessarily a disability that you’re still able to go out there and be yourself, be creative,” said Jami.
