The SUV exploded in flames. Witnesses helped pull the driver from the burning vehicle, but he suffered serious burns.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. on Friday near PCH and Clark Avenue in Long Beach.

Police arrested Raymond Sean Clark in connection with the deadly attack.

“The suspect was found at a nearby location taken into custody. I will be able to get more information as the investigation continues,” Sgt. Aaron Eaton told KTLA.

The 38-year-old homeless man allegedly asked the victim for money outside the store.

When Payne refuse, Clark allegedly threw a bottle into an open window of the vehicle, and the object immediately burst into flames, engulfing the SUV.
