Police in Tustin were searching Thursday for two home invasion robbers who terrorized an elderly woman and left her tied up in the basement.
It happened around 12 p.m. at a home in the 14000 block of Peppertree Circle, according to Sgt. Mike Lamoureux with the Tustin Police Department.
The 75-year-old woman told police she was home alone when the doorbell rang. Because she was alone, the woman decided not to answer the door, Lamoureux said.
Shortly afterward, she turned around to find a man standing behind her. He led her into the basement where another man was waiting, according to Lamoureux.
The men bound her wrists and ankles with belts and then ransacked the house.
After they were done, the men stole her car, which was later involved in a pursuit in South L.A. involving officers with the Los Angeles Police Department, Lamoureux said.
Officers took three people into custody.
