Detectives were searching Tuesday for three men who pistol-whipped and tied up a 65-year-old woman before ransacking her home near Perris, authorities said.
The home-invasion robbery occurred Sunday around 10 p.m. in the 18000 block of Cable Lane (map), Sgt. Glenn Williams with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.
It began when the men knocked on the victim’s door, asked for someone and were told by the victim through the closed door that no one by the name they gave lived there, according to Williams.
The trio left the front porch, but returned minutes later and kicked down the home’s front door. At least one of the men was armed, and they proceeded to pistol-whip the victim and tie her up, Williams said.
The home was ransacked for money and jewelry before the robbers fled.
The victim’s condition was not immediately known.
Investigators did not have a detailed description of the wanted men, describing them only as black males, according to the release.
The incident was under investigation by detectives with the Sheriff’s Perris Station and the Perris Police Department.
