The Southland has finally been in the middle of a stretch of warm weather and sunshine but will it last through Mother’s Day weekend?

Friday morning will start with some morning clouds, especially near the coast but brighten up through the afternoon.

The afternoon high in downtown Los Angeles Thursday reached 75 degrees, just one degree above the average of 74. The record high for May 9 is 99 degrees set back in 1923.

A low-pressure system over Nevada has moved a little closer to the California border, KTLA Meteorologist Henry DiCarlo said.

“So I can’t rule out the chance of some drizzle tonight up in the mountains or some of the foothills,” Henry said.

Those living in Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties likely won’t notice any change from the low pressure and can expect continued sunny skies and warm conditions Friday.

By Mother’s Day, Henry expects plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures throughout the Southland.
