The break, located near 9876 Wilshire Blvd. (map), was reported to the Beverly Hills Fire Department around 9:15 p.m., officials said.

The hotel and three other Southern California Edison customers experienced a power outage around the same time, SCE official Carolyn Aoyagi said.

Hotel guests were given flashlights and told to use stairwells to get around.

The power outages were caused by water flowing into an electrical vault nearby, fire department officials said.

It was not immediately clear whether service was restored, but Southern California Edison pages showing no outages as of 2:30 a.m.

Westbound Santa Monica Boulevard at Wilshire Boulevard was temporarily closed as crews worked to contain the break, Beverly Hills Police Department Lt. Renato Moreno said.

All lanes were reopened by 11:45 p.m.

No injuries or evacuations were reported.
