Southern California is famous for its spring “superblooms” of colorful flowers, and tons of visitors don’t have to exit their plane to get a view of one.

The influx of rain this season has contributed to a wild display of flowers at Los Angeles International Airport. A photo submitted by KTLA viewer Barbara Shigekuni showed the amazing backdrop of orange as a plane appeared to be taking taking off from the runway.

LAX officials told KTLA that a similar event occurred in 2019. The best way to view the flowers, they said, is during takeoff or landing.

The airport is just one of many places to view a spectacular superbloom in California this spring. Others include the Habitat Gardens at Elizabeth Learning Center in L.A., Crafton Hills Ridge Trail  in the Yucaipa and The Environmental Nature Center in Newport Beach.
