When Alana Thogerson’s mom returned to Virginia after a trip to California, she brought home a picture and a story about a sick baby sea lion she found on the beach.
Nine-year-old Alana was so moved by the plight of the sea lions, she made it her mission to raise as much money as she could to help.
Alana sold things, asked for donations at little league games and even set up a GoFundMe account.
Her efforts culminated in a check for more than $1700 that she deliver in person to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach.
