Authorities in Ventura County are investigating after a group of thieves burglarized a gun store early Monday morning.

A spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office told KTLA that they received a call from an employee reporting “four to five” individuals inside the Camarillo Gun Store, located at 1780 Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo, at 4:21 a.m.

VCSO later confirmed that they were looking for five or six suspects.

Deputies arrived at the scene within minutes but the burglars had already fled, the spokesperson said.

A mangled sedan was found in the roadway near the firearms shop; it is believed the suspects used the car to ram into the store’s glass front doors before driving down an alleyway adjacent to the business in a silver Hyundai, deputies said.

Several handguns were taken, authorities added, but the exact number was not immediately released.
