An 18-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another 18-year-old in San Clemente on Saturday.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Avenida del Presidente just after 12:15 a.m. on reports of a stabbing.

Upon arriving, deputies located the teenage victim, who had suffered a single stab wound to the groin, and began lifesaving measures before he was rushed to a nearby hospital by paramedics.

The victim was later pronounced deceased, authorities said. His identity has not been released.

Authorities quickly began an investigation and identified the suspect as Joshua Guadalupe Garcia, 18, of Santa Ana.

Garcia was located later on Saturday and was subsequently booked on suspicion of murder.

A knife was recovered from the scene, deputies confirmed.

“Further forensic investigations are required to determine if it was the weapon used in the homicide,” OCFA said in a release. “The relationship between Garcia and the victim and the reason he attacked him are still under investigation.”
