Three people, including a police officer from Illinois, were arrested Sunday in connection with a stabbing outside a gym in Huntington Beach.

Officers were called to a 24 Hour Fitness on Third Street regarding a stabbing outside the gym on Feb. 28, according to a news release from the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Officers determined that two men and a woman in a vehicle got into an argument with two males who were on foot, the release stated.

The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation between the five individuals, during which one of the pedestrians was stabbed, according to police.

The victim, later identified by family members as 17-year-old Karam Jarrah, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The three suspects in the car drove away but were located a short time later and arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and battery, the release stated.

The investigation revealed that one of the suspects, Arthur Roman, was a police officer in the state of Illinois.

The other two suspects were identified by police as Jessica Roman, 27, and Martin Roman, 25, both from Lake Forest.
