Officials investigating a suspicious package Wednesday morning asked people to avoid the area near the Wilshire Federal Building, located in the Westside’s unincorporated Veterans Administration area.

The bomb squad was in route around 6:25 a.m. to the area, on a street near the building located at 11000 Wilshire Blvd. (map), Los Angeles Police Department Officer Liliana Preciado said.

People were asked to avoid the area near Veteran Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard, LAPD stated in a news release.

On and off-ramps from the 405 Freeway to Wilshire Boulevard were expected to be closed, California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

All ramps were reopened as of 7:47 a.m., CHP tweeted.

The package was deemed not to be suspicious, LAPD Officer Drake Madison said around 8:36 a.m.
