Police on Tuesday released surveillance video showing four thieves who broke into a Palos Verdes Estates home and tied up a married couple and then robbed the residence.
The home-invasion robbery occurred about 8 p.m. Saturday in the 1700 block of Lower Paseo La Cresta (map), in an upscale neighborhood filled with multimillion-dollar homes.
Four masked robbers, described only as black men, got into the home by unknown means, tied up the couple and searched the house for 30 minutes before fleeing, according to Palos Verdes Estates police.
Once the men left, the couple was able to free themselves and call 911. One of the two victims was slightly injured after being tied up, police said.
Police did not know if the couple was targeted or chosen at random.
“This is a very safe community, we just don’t have home invasions and burglaries,” said resident Faye Pipkin.
Jewelry was stolen, police Detective Charles Reed said. The value of the loss was not yet known, he said.
The black-and-white surveillance video — taken from across a large, tiled entry area — showed four men crossing in front of several columns. They wore baggy clothing and no distinguishing features were discernible.
