Deputies found the victim with multiple stab wounds on the train platform located in the 11600 block of Avalon Boulevard at about 9:53 p.m., said Aura Sierra with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities initially indicated the victim was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, but later stated the unidentified victim died at the scene.

The identity of the victim was not released.

The attacker was described only as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 6 inches tall, said Lt. Barry Shapiro with the Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators were attempting to gather surveillance images from nearby cameras, Shapiro said.

Green Line trains were not stopping at the Avalon station due to the investigation, but bus service was being provided, Metro tweeted.
