High surf and “strong” rip currents were expected to continue along the Southern California coast on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The large swells were due to a tropical storm that was about 850 miles south-southwest of Los Angeles, the weather service reported.
Waves of up 5 to 7 feet, with maximum breakers of 9 feet, were expected to hit south-facing beaches through early Sunday afternoon, according to forecasters.
The advisory was scheduled to expire at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
