Security cameras caught three people desecrating American flags at a senior community in Oceanside, and authorities were hoping that the newly released surveillance footage will help them catch the culprits.

One of the attacks occurred at the home of a 91-year-old World War II Veteran, according to KTLA sister-station Fox 5 San Diego.

“I saw my flag was all painted and the one next door was painted,” Virgil Hardin told the television station. “I spent 30 months over there during the war protecting what that flag stands for, and that’s why I like to have one up out there.”

A flag belonging to Army veteran Michael Rank was spray painted with the “F” word along with USA, according to Fox 5 San Diego.

“I was furious,” Rank told the station.  “Luckily for me, I have security cameras and he looked right into the camera.”

The vandalism occurred last month, but Oceanside detectives have just released it with the hope that someone can identify the people in the video.

The people seen in the video, two males and a female, appeared to be between the ages of 16 and 20, the TV station reported.
