Officers with the Santa Monica Police Department closed the Santa Monica Pier briefly on Tuesday due to a bomb threat investigation, the department said on social media.

SMPD first announced the closure just after 10:30 a.m., advising those near the pier to stay away from the area before confirming the bomb scare investigation just minutes later.

Community members in the area were advised to remain vigilant while authorities conducted the investigation.

No threat was found after a comprehensive search, police said just after noon.

Those who visit the pier are reminded by Santa Monica police that if they see something suspicious, they should alert authorities immediately.
