A nurse remained in critical condition Tuesday after he was stabbed outside Mission Community Hospital in Panorama City.
The stabbing occurred just before 7 p.m. Monday when police say a man, believed to be homeless, stabbed the victim who was arriving for work and then ran away.
Witnesses told police there was no verbal exchange between the two and the attack was seemingly unprovoked.
The victim, a 49-year-old male nurse, was taken to a different hospital for treatment.
Witnesses describe the suspect as a Hispanic man between 40 and 50 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches, and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, a black hoodie, and a black shirt, and was carrying a black backpack.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.
