Authorities on Thursday night discovered about 10,000 pounds of marijuana inside a semitrailer at a truck depot in San Bernardino, police said.
Narcotics officers from the San Bernardino Police Department at about 7 p.m. were conducting an investigation that led them to truck depot in the city, said Lt. Travis Walker. There they found a tractor trailer that they deemed suspicious, and a search of the vehicle was conducted, Walker said.
Dozens of cardboard boxes were found inside vehicle, containing multiple individually wrapped bricks of marijuana, according to the Police Department.
A “conservative estimate” of the pot’s street value is about $5 million, Walker said, adding that the marijuana bust was probably the largest in San Bernardino’s history.
Investigators were following up on leads in the case. No suspects were in custody late Thursday evening.
The pot will later be destroyed by a crime lab, police said.
