Police on Friday released a composite sketch of one of two men who investigators said attempted to kidnap a woman at her home in Montebello.

The victim was confronted by an unknown man about 9 a.m. Monday when she walked into her exterior laundry room in the 100 block of North 10th Street (map), according to the Montebello Police Department.

After the man tried to grab the woman and pull her back into the room, she turned and ran away, a department news release said.

Her husband chased a man whom he saw running down a driveway at the property, and a physical altercation ensued, the news release said. That intruder was described as wearing a gray hooded sweater, blue jeans and a baseball hat.

While the two men were fighting, the intruder’s accomplice ran over and punched the husband, causing him to release the other man, authorities said. The man who threw the punch was said to be 6 feet 2 inches tall, with a large, muscular build, wearing a mask, blue jeans and a dark gray or black  shirt.

A construction worker who said he witnessed the incident said at least one of the men was wearing a ski mask.

“At first I heard screaming coming out of the house. I see the two guys run out and they start fighting in the front. Third guy came out to help his buddy out,” Isaac Villalobos said.

The intruders then got into a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup, model year 1995 or 2000, and drove away, according to police.

“As the suspects were fleeing they left materials behind consistent with a kidnapping,” the news release said.

An investigation is ongoing.
