A Pinon Hills woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of killing her 2 1/2-year-old son, who was initially rushed to a hospital the previous day after a report of a drowning.

Medical aid initially responded to the home of 30-year-old Crystal Greene, at the 10300 block of Wintergreen Road, at 4:16 p.m. Friday.

From the home, paramedics transferred Greene’s toddler son to Desert Valley Medical Center in Victorville, where he was pronounced dead despite efforts from medical aid and hospital staff, a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release said.

Emergency room doctors requested law enforcement after determining that the cause of the boy’s death was not drowning. Doctors determined that the toddler had suffered “numerous injuries,” officials said.

Sheriff’s homicide and Crimes Against Children led the investigation and interview of Greene, who was arrested on suspicion of murder. She was arrested just before 6 a.m. Saturday, inmate records show.

Children and Family Services were contacted and took Greene’s three other children into custody.

Officials urge anyone with information to contact the homicide Detective Kevin McCurdy at 909-387-3589.

The Sheriff’s Department initially gave a different spelling for the suspect’s last name, but later updated the spelling.
