Police have a “person of interest” in custody Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in the Chesterfield Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles the night before.
Authorities responded to the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Gramercy Place when the deadly crash was reported about 11:30 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed.
The victim, only described as a 30-year-old man, died at the scene, said Sgt. Dana Adams with the Police Department.
The man’s name was not released because his family had yet to be notified, Adams said.
The vehicle believed to have been used in the crash was found abandoned a short time later near the intersection of Eucalyptus Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard in Inglewood, Adams said.
Police took a man, described as a “person of interest,” into custody near where the vehicle was found, Adams said.
