Opening statements were scheduled to begin Thursday in a civil suit brought against the Dodgers by a man who was brutally beaten on opening day in 2011.

Bryan Stow and his two children were seeking $50 million in damages, or the estimated lifetime cost of his medical care. The Giants fan was beaten by Dodgers fans after an argument in 2011.

Stow said the Dodgers and former owner Frank McCourt should have provided more security and lighting the night of the attack.
