Authorities in Orange County are investigating a pair of armed robberies that occurred at 7-Eleven stores in Cypress and Anaheim early Wednesday morning.
The first incident took place about 12:44 a.m. at the convenience store located in the 9400 block of Valley View Street, Cypress Police Department Sgt. Matt Timney said.
A man wearing a ski mask and armed with a handgun entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.
The robber took $400 in cash before fleeing eastbound through Cypress College and into an apartment complex in the 9200 block of Holder Street, Sgt. Robert Cote said.
No injuries were reported in the robbery.
Several agencies searched for the man but were unable to locate him, Cote said.
The robber was described as a black man, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.
He was wearing a blue ski mask, dark blue hoodie, and dark blue and black sweats, Cote said.
Investigators were using surveillance video in their search for the robber.
A second 7-Eleven was robbed about 1:20 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Ball Road, Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Luis Correa said.
This robber was also armed with a handgun and got away with cash from the store.
No injuries were reported in the robbery.
Police did not have any surveillance video to release at the moment, Correa said.
The robber was described as a black man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and wearing a dark sweatshirt.
Investigators did not find any initial evidence linking the two robberies, Correa said.
