Goar Davtyan, 67, was taken into custody shortly before 6 p.m. on suspicion of two felonies: hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter, the Glendale Police Department said in a news release. Her daughter, 41-year-old Alina Davtyan, was arrested for allegedly being an accessory to a crime and filing a false insurance claim.

Goar Davtyan had been identified as a “person of interest” early in the investigation, the police statement said, adding that she was not arrested “until additional evidence was collected and processed.”

The fatal collision occurred about 8 p.m. April 16, when Martiros Arutyunyan was crossing at the intersection Broadway and Belmont Street. The pedestrian was struck by a white sedan whose driver sped away without stopping to render aid, investigators said.

Arutyunyan, who suffered head injuries, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

“I can’t believe it, that my dad is gone,” Rubina Arutnyan, the victim’s daughter, said days after the fatal incident. “I loved him so much. I miss him. Every day, I miss him.”

At the time, she and other family members pleaded with the driver to come forward.

“Just come forward and tell the truth,” Rubina Arutnyan said.

City officials subsequently offered a $50,000 reward in the case, and surveillance video was released that, according to authorities, showed the vehicle that hit Martiros Arutyunyan.

On April 20, police announced that the white sedan had been located.
