A minor was taken to the hospital after being stabbed in a bathroom at a Los Angeles County high school Monday, officials said.

The incident was reported at Nogales High School located in the 400 block of Nogales Street in La Puente shortly before 10 a.m.

Arriving deputies located a minor who was suffering from a stab wound, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

Further details about the stabbing were provided in a statement from the Rowland Unified School District.

“There was an incident between two students where one student was stabbed with a knife in the boys’ restroom,” a portion of the statement read.

The student was taken to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury, the School District stated, adding that the unidentified student was conscious and responsive when transported.

The school was placed on a temporary lockdown while officials assessed the situation.

The suspect in the stabbing, also a minor, was detained following the incident, LASD Sgt. Aguilar said.

No further details about the suspect were provided.

The lockdown was lifted at around 11 a.m.
