A minivan swerving on the wrong side of the road in downtown Los Angeles crashed into the side of a tree early Tuesday, trapping the driver in what’s believed to be a suspected DUI.
Video from the scene showed the driver being loaded into an ambulance, transporting him to a local hospital.
The crash was reported around 1:45 a.m., as the driver reportedly ran red lights and slammed the minivan into a tree.
Firefighters pulled the driver from the wreckage, bloodied and battered, using the jaws of life to free the man from the minivan.
The collision happened near the 800 block of West Cesar Chavez Avenue.
Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Cervantes told KTLA there are no further details of the incident.
The crash is currently under investigation.
