A 25-year-old man is being sought on suspicion of stabbing his girlfriend to death in Compton earlier this year.
Daisy Delao, 19, was found dead in an alley along the 1400 block of South Long Beach Boulevard on Feb. 23, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. She had been stabbed several times, L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner records show.
No further details about the stabbing have been released. Authorities also did not elaborate on how they determined her boyfriend, Victor Hugo Sosa, was responsible for the crime.
The Los Angeles Times reported that investigators believe Sosa visited Delao at her apartment complex the previous night and stabbed her to death. The property manager found her body behind the complex the following morning, the newspaper reported.
Sosa is believed to have fled to Mexico after the incident, but has since returned and has been spotted in homeless encampments across the county, the newspaper reported, citing a homicide detective. The newspaper described Sosa as the victim’s ex-boyfriend.
Delao’s mother, Susana Salas, told the Times that the victim was a recent graduate of Huntington Park High School and was studying business administration at East L.A. College. She had aspirations of opening a tattoo, makeup or hair styling business.
Delao met Sosa around the age of 15, but the relationship grew strained and he at one point struck her in the forehead with a skateboard, Salas told the Times.
Salas last saw her daughter when the victim received a text from Sosa and said she’d be right back.
Sosa has not been apprehended and is considered armed and dangerous.
He is described as being 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He is known to use his skateboard and/or public transportation, officials said.
