The woman who was fatally shot in Corona on Tuesday as a man and a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy struggled over a gun has been identified, and the man struggling with the deputy has been charged with murder in her death.

San Diego County resident Eric Nourani, 33, faces charges of murder, attempted murder of a peace officer, mayhem, resisting arrest and resisting arrest causing great bodily injury, as reported by The Press-Enterprise.

According to authorities, Nourani and Jennifer Rose Dobbins, 30, of Imperial Beach were running from a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy at about 1:10 a.m. in the 1000 block of West 6th Street when the deputy turned a corner and Nourani attacked him.

During their struggle over the deputy’s gun, Dobbins “began assaulting the deputy, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the department said at the time. She was declared dead at Riverside Community Hospital about 90 minutes later.

Authorities have not released exactly how the gun discharged during the struggle, including if the trigger was pulled on purpose or inadvertently.

The deputy, whose identity has not been released, has been placed on paid adminstrative leave.
