A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting on the 60 Freeway that injured a man Thursday morning, according to authorities.
The California Highway Patrol identified the suspect as 50-year-old Michael Vickers of Moreno Valley. Authorities say a black Ford F-250 driven by Vickers was involved with a collision with a Honda Accord at 6:10 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway, just west of Azusa Avenue.
Vickers started to flee the scene, the CHP said, and the driver of the Honda involved positioned his car in front of Vickers’ truck. in the slow lane of the 60 Freeway. When the Honda driver exited his car to confront Vickers, Vickers allegedly firing a gun at the man.
The man sustained a gunshot wound but was successfully able to call 911 to report the shooting, the CHP said. He provided Vickers’ license plate number to officers.
While his condition was not immediately made clear as of Friday morning, the Honda driver was able to successfully identify Vickers in a photographic lineup, according to authorities.
Officers arrested Vickers on suspicion of attempted murder at his home just after 2 p.m.
