The iPhone 6 goes on sale on Friday, but many people who wanted to be the first to get their hands on the new gadget were already lined up outside the Apple store the day before its release.

The latest version of the iPhone had already pre-sold faster than any other phone in history, with more than 4 million of the smart phones pre-ordered less than 24 hours after it was made available.

People have lined up outside Apple stores around the world in anticipation of the iPhone 6’s release.

In Pasadena, the line wrapped around the block and appeared to be roughly a quarter-mile long by Thursday night.

At the front was Fransisco Naranjo, who had been waiting outside the Pasadena store since Monday. Naranjo has been the first person in line for the newest iPhone models the last four years at the store.

“I call it like, ‘Apple mania.’ It’s just you have to have a new iPhone and the latest model,” he said.

The glass windows at the front of the store have been blacked out in ahead of Friday’s major launch, which was expected to get underway around 8 a.m.

It was not immediately clear how many of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus’s the store had in stock.
