The Los Angeles Police Department has revealed footage and details related to the death of a pedestrian after they were struck by a patrol vehicle in Hollywood last month.

At about 3:50 p.m. on April 29, an LAPD vehicle was headed north on Gower Street at Santa Monica Boulevard, where it stopped for a red light.

After activating its emergency lights, the patrol vehicle started moving through the intersection, and a silver Nissan Altima headed west on Santa Monica Boulevard crashed into the LAPD vehicle, sending the police vehicle careening into a pedestrian in the crosswalk, video released by the LAPD shows.

“The pedestrian sustained significant trauma and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

The six others who were injured were taken to local hospitals and treated for minor injuries.
