A Culver City man who was arrested two years ago for being an alleged peeping Tom has been taken into custody again, this time for a fatal stabbing on a Portland train.

Shondel Larkin, now 51, allegedly stabbed another man to death on Friday, as reported by KTLA sister station KOIN. He faces charges of murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

In court records, police say the attack occurred “without provocation,” adding that Larkin stabbed the man multiple times in the shoulder, chest and back.

Larkin, who was found by officers “alone inside the train” with “blood stained clothing,” may have been motivated by mental illness, police said.

“[Larkin told police he] possessed a large butcher style kitchen knife, and voices he heard made him believe the victim was going to kill him, and/or assist law enforcement with providing information related to his past,” the documents say.

That past includes a 2022 arrest for allegedly being a peeping Tom in Culver City, at which point he was already a sex offender on parole.

At that time, Larkin was being tracked with a GPS ankle monitor. The events resulting in his travels to Portland are unclear.
