Despite the forecast of sunny skies and spring weather, a trip to the beach might not be the best idea this weekend, according to officials.

Los Angeles County Public Health extended a Ocean Water Quality Rain Advisory through most of the weekend, the agency announced Friday morning.

Recent rainstorms have led to “potentially higher bacteria levels” near discharging storm drains, creeks and rivers, Public Health said. Runoff from those areas could cause harm to swimmers or someone who touches water that has ponded on the beach.

The advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday.
