Homes in Santa Clarita were evacuated Thursday after one house caught fire and flames spread to a neighboring home, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was called to the scene in the 22000 block of Aguadero Place (map) at 2:16 p.m., according to fire Inspector Rick Flores.

One home was on fire and another home had possibly caught fire, according to Lt. Rob Hahnlein of the Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Valley Station.

Homes in the surrounding area were being evacuated, Hahnlein said. No one was found inside the homes, a Fire Department spokeswoman said.

Wires had been reported down in the area, she said.

Flames appeared to be out by 2:50 p.m., aerial video from Sky5 showed.

One home had significant damage, and firefighters were working on the roof of a neighboring home that appeared to have less severe damage. The Fire Department stated on Twitter that only one home was affected and no injuries were reported.

Deputies and firefighters were on scene, and the public was asked to avoid the area, according to a tweet from the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station.
