Police were asking for the public’s help Wednesday in identifying the hit-and-run driver who struck an elderly woman in a crosswalk at a crowded intersection near USC in broad daylight.
It happened around 8 a.m. on Monday, March 16 at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Figueroa Street.
The 87-year-old victim was crossing the street eastbound on Adams Boulevard within a marked crosswalk when she was hit, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Surveillance video showed a silver late-model Infiniti SUV traveling eastbound on Adams Boulevard and then turning northbound onto Figueroa Street.
The Infiniti collided with the pedestrian and continued northbound on Figueroa Street.
After driving about a block north, the driver made a U-turn and drove past the victim in the southbound lanes, police said.
The suspect then continued to drive around the USC campus at a high rate of speed and, on one occasion, drove through a red light, according to the release.
The unidentified woman remained hospitalized Wednesday in critical condition.
